This week, Flav, Lucy and I made our way "over the river and through the woods" (and a nasty snow and ice storm) to my hometown, Melrose, MN, to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. After a less than pleasant drive from Minneapolis, and a night out with friends on Wednesday, I woke on Thursday morning to join my mom and brother in law, Aaron, in preparing our Thanksgiving feast.
After about 6 or 7 hours of cooking, our family sat down to quite the feast. The star of the show was the turkey, prepared by my brother in law, Aaron. I'm not sure how he did it, but after about 5 hours of basting and pampering, this turkey emerged from the oven looking like a prop from a Norman Rockwell painting. Seriously, this thing was sick.
The other highlight of the Thanksgiving feast was an impressive dessert table, featuring Aaron's pumpkin and apple pies and three desserts prepared by yours truly - a berry tarte and two of my Grandma Rita's special chocolate meringue pies (my dad's favorite)
On the whole, a very tasty holiday enjoyed by all
Hope you all had a fun a great Thanksgiving!!! See you in the comments.
